15th Annual Charity Airport Drag Races

August 19 & 20 2017

NEWS RELEASE FOR 15th Annual AIRPORT CHARITY DRAGS, Aug. 19, 20.

This is our 15th annual 1/8th mile drag race held at the Altona Municipal Airport. For two days, we take over this venue, with a maximum field of 60 paid entries per day @ $75 each. $25 of that fee goes back in the form of prize money. Several thousand people attend this race, and we have not raised our admission in 15 years to keep it affordable for families. We also keep our food and beverage prices affordable as we cater to families having fun.

This is a professionally run race with racers receiving time slips after each run. Instant results are displayed on our Race America Reader Boards. Dave Millar of Millar Machine Company in Winkler is our Platinum Sponsor, lane Sponsors again for this year are: Derksen Trucking (Altona), and Triple E Leisure Products (Winkler).

Back by popular demand is the Members Challenge Race. This event features Legends car club members racing their cars competing for bragging rights! These 16 entries are at NC, no prize money, and the limit is 8 per day. Members are allowed to enter for one day only. To register complete the form on our website and state Members Challenge. www.legendscarclub.ca

Our feature events this year will be: “Prairie Gold, a Canola Bio Diesel Jet car, sponsored by Bunge. 8 mini dragsters (no entry fee) to attract the kids, 4 racing sleds, and 4 drag bikes (both are paid entries @ $75 each.)

Entry forms are on line, but must be filled in manually. You can then scan them and send them directly to Pat LeBlanc at patlebla@mts.net, or mail to Legends Car Club, Box 2005, Altona, MB R0G0B0. Payment by cheque, money order, Mastercard, or Visa, must accompany the entry.
This year we are giving 50% of our profits to 2 regional causes; Genesis house in Winkler. We also support them with our Drive for Cancer coming up on May 27th. Anyone can join us for the day.
